Walking Tips

  • Cross the street at the corners or in the crosswalks where possible
  • Make sure to look both ways before crossing the street and while crossing the street
  • Don’t text or look down at your cell phone while crossing the street
  • Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the road in front of them
  • Always use sidewalks

Have a plan

  • Kids under the age of 12 should always trick or treat with an adult
  • Children who are old enough to go without an adult should go over their plan with an adult first
  • Children going trick or treating without an adult should only go to well lit areas that they are familiar with
  • If your children are going trick or treating without you, make sure you know where they’re going and who they’re with

Costume Safety

  • Costumes and bags should have reflective tape or stickers on them
  • Face paint is safer than face masks, which can obscure vision
  • Glow sticks or flash lights can help your children be seen by drivers
  • Make sure costumes are the right size

Drive Safely

  • Drive extra slowly in neighborhoods and residential areas
  • Make sure to triple check for children before driving through an intersection
  • Back out of parking spaces and driveways cautiously
  • The most popular trick or treating hours are between 5:30-9:30 so drive extra cautiously during those hours
  • Make sure you are not a distracted driver!
  • Don’t drink and drive

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veterans Day from all of us at Masterflo Plumbing! Today we’d like to honor all of our veterans by learning a little bit more about this special holiday.

  • Veterans Day was once known as Armistice Day. This term comes from an armistice between Germany and the Allied Nations on November 11, 1918. The first Armistice Day was celebrated on November 11, 1919.plumber canton ga
  • November 11 is a state and federal holiday. Don’t worry- Masterflo is still open today!
  • During World War II, Disney made films for each branch of the United States government. 90% of Disney employees worked making propaganda and training videos during WWII.
  • Today, there are over 1.6 million female veterans.
  • From 1971-1977, Veterans Day was celebrated on the fourth Monday in October. On November 11, 1978, Gerald Ford signed a law changing it back to its original date.
  • On November 11, 1921, an American soldier, whose identity was unknown, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Today his grave is known as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and each year on Veterans Day the president (or another high ranking government official) lays a wreath on his tomb.
  • Many people confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day. Memorial Day is to honor those who died serving our country, and Veterans Day is to honor all who have served in the military.
  • The word “veteran” comes from the old English language and literally means experienced soldier.
  • The word veteran was first used in 1789 and was used specifically to refer to a member (or former member) of the military. It has since been used to describe someone who has held any position for a long time.
  • California has more US military veterans than any other state.

Happy Veterans Day to all of the veterans out there! We appreciate your service!

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day!

We hope everyone is having a happy and safe Labor Day today! We know you all work hard to provide for your loved ones. At Masterflo Plumbing we work hard to meet all of our clients’ needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! We help create a sanitary, comfortable environment for you by taking care of all your residential plumbing needs. When most of us think of Labor Day, we think of football, BBQ, and spending some time outdoors grilling, swimming, or boating. In honor of the holiday today, we’d like to take a second and share with you why we celebrate Labor Day.

The origins of Labor Day are somewhat disputed as are the origins of many US holidays. Some say that Labor Day began at the suggestion of Peter J. McGuire of the American Federation of Labor. Another, more supported theory, is that Matthew Maguire initiated Labor Day. Maguire was the secretary of the Central Labor Union of New York and suggested a demonstration and picnic to celebrate the average, hard working American. President Grover Cleveland was eventually able to designate the holiday as a federal holiday in 1894. Labor Day has since become a way to recognize and celebrate the contribution to America by its hard working citizens.

Have a great Labor Day and we’ll see you all on Wednesday for another edition of Water Heater Wednesday!
